Beth Justice, former Superintendent of the Southern Ohio ESC, was nominated by the organization for the Ohio ESC Association’s (OESCA) esteemed Torch Award. Throughout her tenure as Superintendent, Mrs. Justice exemplified a profound commitment to improving educational outcomes and advancing opportunities for all students in the region.

Mrs. Justice spearheaded transformative initiatives that continue to impact students, educators, and communities positively. These include:

  • Improving Literacy Instruction: Enhancing literacy programs to elevate student achievement.

  • Expanding Opportunities for Students with Disabilities: Strengthening support systems and inclusion initiatives.

  • Growing Workforce Development Services: Preparing students for future careers through innovative programming.

  • Fostering Collaborative Partnerships: Building strong relationships with districts, educators, and community members.

  • Leading Strategic Planning Efforts: Enhancing employee experiences and refining services for member districts and partners.

Her steadfast leadership and collaborative spirit fostered a positive and supportive culture within the Southern Ohio ESC. By addressing the unique needs of each school district, she built trusted relationships and ensured that students, educators, and staff had the tools they needed to succeed.

Mrs. Justice’s contributions to OESCA were equally remarkable. She actively served on various committees and initiatives, offering her expertise and advocating for the essential role of ESCs statewide. Her passion for public education and dedication to the ESC model have left an enduring mark on the organization.

A Career of Impact
Beth Justice began her career in education in 1988 as a special education and regular education teacher in the Miami Trace Local School District, where she later served as a principal. She went on to lead as principal of Sunnyside Kindergarten in the Washington Court House City School District before becoming Assistant Superintendent of Washington Court House City Schools in 2008.

In August 2014, Mrs. Justice joined Southern Ohio ESC as a School Improvement Consultant and was named Director of the Region 14 State Support Team and Hopewell Center in 2015. Her exemplary leadership led her to the role of Superintendent in January 2017, where she served until her retirement in July 2024 after a distinguished career spanning decades.

Beth Justice’s dedication and visionary leadership have earned her this well-deserved nomination for the Torch Award, recognizing her outstanding contributions to education in Ohio.
