Workforce Development Initiatives in Clinton and Highland Counties
Southern Ohio ESC collaborates with local business, education, non-profit, and government sectors to address workforce challenges and prepare the next generation of talent. Two key initiatives, the Clinton County Workforce Collaborative (CCWC) and Highland County ACCESS, work to bridge the gap between education and employment, creating solutions for workforce development, retention, and recruitment in our region.
Clinton County Workforce Collaborative (CCWC)
The CCWC is dedicated to tackling the complex issues surrounding workforce development in Clinton County and beyond. This collaborative network comprises business leaders, educators, non-profits, government officials, and community development partners.
Together, they work to identify challenges and create practical solutions that improve workforce retention and recruitment.
The CCWC has three active working groups that focus on key areas:
- School/Community Connections
- Education/Training
- Barriers to Work
Each group drives forward projects that connect local students, job seekers, and businesses to long-term workforce opportunities.
Highland County ACCESS/Workforce Development
The Highland County ACCESS program, part of the Highland County Workforce Leadership Council and SOESC's Business Advisory Council, is focused on creating opportunities for student success. Through the program, local businesses can host student interns, providing valuable hands-on experience that aligns with industry demands. ACCESS interns collaborate with their schools to develop critical employability skills, undergo assessments, and receive tailored education and coaching. The result is a well-rounded workforce pipeline that supports businesses and students by equipping the next generation with the tools they need for career success.
